Like almost every biographical solo performance that I’ve seen, it introduces me to the various people in her life. I hear how they speak. I see how they move. I learn who they are. If not specifically, then in relation to the storyteller.
What I didn't like
As with any Fringe show, I am curious how this would be fleshed out further; if it would be fleshed out further. Or even in it’s current storytelling format, whether or not it would expand.
My overall impression
What Am I, Chopped Suey? is a bitter sweet reminder of what it is like growing up Asian-American. She leads you through her childhood and adolescence into her adulthood. Along the journey, you find yourself connecting through your own memories. Working through feelings of rejection and being different.
