What I liked

“SuperHostess” isn’t just about the laughs, though there are plenty. McInnis offers a candid look at the financial ups and downs of home sharing, providing an education on the economic realities and unexpected costs. She skillfully weaves in stories of quirky guests and their peculiar habits, all while maintaining a light-hearted, humorous tone.

McInnis’s ability to connect with the audience is evident from the get-go. Her storytelling is authentic and relatable, making it easy for anyone—whether they’ve hosted or not—to find common ground in her experiences. The play is not only a testament to her comedic prowess but also to her talent for turning life’s curveballs into comedic gold.

What I didn't like

For those familiar with McInnis’s work, “SuperHostess” is a delightful extension of her comedy. For newcomers, it’s a perfect introduction to her sharp wit and engaging stage presence. This debut one-woman play is a must-see, offering a perfect blend of humor, heart, and financial wisdom.

Thank you, Jan McInnis, for delivering a performance that goes beyond comedy, diving into the financial intricacies and every money-related aspect of home sharing. Your play is both entertaining and enlightening, making “SuperHostess” a standout experience.

My overall impression

Jan McInnis’s one-woman play, “SuperHostess,” is an uproarious and insightful journey into the chaotic world of home sharing. With her seasoned background as a comedian and keynote speaker, McInnis brings her real-life experiences as a home sharing host to the stage, transforming everyday challenges into sidesplitting anecdotes.

The play kicks off with McInnis’s decision to open her home to strangers, driven by the promise of extra income while she’s on the road. What she didn’t anticipate were the countless bizarre and hilarious encounters that would follow. From fielding odd questions to dealing with a $15,000 water pipe replacement and loan for rent, McInnis masterfully highlights the unpredictable nature of hosting.
