Jean-Baptiste Poquelin de Molière is the Father of French comedy. Writing and acting during the 17th century under the Sun King, Louis XIV, King of France, his plays have known tremendous success throughout his life. Until 1664, when he performed the Tartuffe or the Hypocrite. Mocking the fake Catholic devotees, that play was vehemently censored by the Church and not even his friendship with the King could save it. Going through personal and professional traumas, Molière tried his best to power through. For his King, his company, his wife and his son.
