Brilliant performances! Karan Menon (Ritchie) is masterful in his joke delivery and Daisy Tichenor (Emma) effortlessly balances frenetic energy & acute emotional awareness. Together, they’re compelling & grounded comedic leads. Max Cazier (Arik) and Frankie Nayman (Freya) make the text soar, delivering allllll the heightened comedic absurdity that the play needs.
What I didn't like
The comedy is certainly there, but I think the premise warrants a deeper examination of the central relationship dynamic. If expanded, there’s tons of potential for meatier character studies. It dips its toes into complex emotional realms, but feels afraid of being earnest for too long. Going deeper won’t make the play lose any of its absurd, goofy charm.
My overall impression
Good, wacky fun! An absurd comedy that packs an emotional punch. It’s chaotic and entertaining and exactly what I needed for my Friday night.
