Although I’m a San Francisco native I’d never heard of Jeri Estes and her fascinating life. Her story was full of drama and added so many raw details about the early LGBTQ+ years in the city. The characters were recognizable, complex human beings and not stereotypes.
What I didn't like
I think it might help if the story honed in on the key conflict storylines – Jeri faced (and overcame) so many challenges it felt a little overwhelming toward the end.
My overall impression
Solid, robust performances from an energetic, engaged cast. Barnett’s musical direction was superb.
