I was moved by LaPaglia’s gripping performances across so many characters. The story arc presents the full range of human emotions: surprise, humor, sadness, and joy. I loved the mixed media as well as the blending of historical video footage with Zoom re-enactments. Brilliant!
What I didn't like
I do not have feedback on the work itself, but I wish the sound in the space was tighter. At some points, you could really hear theatergoers in the lobby outside of the door.
My overall impression
The Annie Sprinkle Project embodies the real power of live theater to push audiences to think boldly, feel deeply, and learn something new. Evocative, educational, entertaining, and raw – this work not only tugs at audience members’ heartstrings, but inspires them to ask big questions about human sexuality, gender, performance art, and arts activism.
