What I liked

Sophia did an amazing job playing those 9(?) different characters so specifically, yet truly embodied. I never got too distracted by an accent/tick/quirk. Grounded emotional connection throughout. Really fun use of props, costume, and video!

What I didn't like

I was really loving the ending being so spiritual, with the candle lighting scene. I’m wondering if Annie’s audio could be fully used then, followed by Sophia having a true, solo moment of her own candle lighting, without being intercut with Annie. Something about the going back and forth removed some of the gravitas of what Sophia was offering. I really liked that as a closer though.

My overall impression

I learned so much about this incredible figure I didn’t know about before. I laughed! I cried! I left feeling truly inspired. As someone also doing a Fringe show that heavily discusses/portrays sex, I felt grateful. Grateful that someone was bold enough to fully own their body and queer, kinky, feminist sexuality back in 1991, paving the way for so many other shows to step into that arena and more safely tell their stories. And grateful that Sophia crafted this fun and impactful show which gave me the opportunity to learn about Annie and her work.
