What I liked
The authentic performances and fast pace
The transitional lighting
The creative blocking in limited space
The costumes
The agonizing tension and relatability of all four character’s positions
What I didn't like
I had trouble hearing the words or even understanding what I was hearing from the sound effect at the opening – multiple voices, but unclear what they were or meant. However, it ultimately made no difference to my enjoyment of the play.
My overall impression
COCK is simply fantastic. The play is incredibly well written, the acting is superb and the direction inspired. At times laugh out loud funny, at others tear-jerking, the production is a harrowing journey through the jungle of love, sex, commitment, sexuality, family and identity. No one emerges unscathed.
