What I liked

What I like most is the emphasis on player choice and replayability. The promise of “several changing branching paths” ensures that the core technology of the performance—the script, the staging, and the cast’s improvisation—delivers a unique experience every time. The “extreme job interview” framing is a genius hook, immediately giving the audience a high-stakes, active role, which is the gold standard for immersive experiences. The dedication to the SCP lore, including the Creative Commons licensing, shows great respect for the source material’s community.

What I didn't like

The main downside for a tech audience is the limited accessibility (Los Angeles/Hollywood Fringe). For this type of groundbreaking, interactive storytelling to truly scale and impact the technology space, it needs a broader, more permanent venue or a digital adaptation. Also, the strict COVID-19 policy requirements (vaccination/negative test and masks) might unfortunately deter some potential attendees from getting the full, uninhibited immersive experience.

My overall impression

The integration of the SCP Foundation mythology into a live, interactive experience like “Signals” is a brilliant use of the immersive theatre format. This kind of highly agency-driven, branching narrative show represents the Latest Tech Ideas At Simpciry’s focus on innovative audience engagement. It pushes the boundaries of live entertainment and storytelling by making the audience the protagonists. This is exactly where the future of interactive media is headed.
