What I liked
The musical performances from the talented cast were outstanding. From start to finish, the show was filled with incredible singing and dancing.
What I didn't like
There was a bit too little dialogue connecting the musical numbers. Expanding these conversations could enhance the storytelling.
My overall impression
“Shubop” serves as a prequel to the playwright’s previous musical “No Matter Watt.” The cast delivered powerhouse vocals and routines. Gordon’s introductory monologue provided meaningful context around the plot. It was touching. I hope to see the full work combining both parts of this story. The songs and spectacle make it well worth seeing. With a bit more substance between the pieces, it could be truly exceptional. Even so, I’d recommend catching this production.
