The diversity of the cast, the simplicity of the set, how the characters worked together and bounced off of one another to tell an amazing story, Lolo’s brutal honesty, Max finding their voice and standing up for themself and others, Yan’s introspection, and Dave’s sweetness and willingness to learn
What I didn't like
I need a second episode!
My overall impression
Love Chicken is a must-see! As a queer nonbinary person of color, I hardly ever see myself and my lived experiences presented in the media. This play is relatable, hilarious, and captures all of the joy, sloppiness, and tenderness that is being queer.
It also brings to light different relationship styles, sexuality and gender identity, and both the struggle and triumph of finding one’s voice in a way that plucks at your heart strings and makes you laugh until your stomach hurts. Kudos to the amazing director, cast, and everyone who helped make it happen! What a special way to kick off Pride month!
