What I liked

It’s not quite often you come across an ensemble that resonates so much joy, love and sense of family towards an audience. Each drag queen brought their own unique flavor to their roles that set each apart for all the good reasons, fantastic job on the actors for portraying more truthful and diverse looks at what it really means to be part of the LGBTQ community, we are indeed moving to a brighter future and it’s refreshing to see it being played by talented actors . The villain Ricky Dalton kept me on my edge of my seat at all times, the actor brought such flare and passion to his character that made me want to root for him even though his interest wasn’t for the best, but I guess that’s what happens when you leave your heart on the stage for all to bare. No role went unfulfilled in this production, Kuddo’s to the actress playing Kandi for being the light we all need to see, seeing her growth and character arc in the play yet quiet was tremendous and spoke volumes especially in the finale. To the actor playing multiple roles (Spencer, police officer etc) excellent commitment to all the characters, you are definitely their wild card and your attention to detail to each role was astounding to watch. As I said no role was unfulfilled and what more can I say if I haven’t already especially about the actors playing the love interest and brother, yet small their role had power and meaning behind them that both actors played out with great conviction, they made me smile and made me hopeful that change can come. All in all this production is a must see, hopefully big things are in the works for them, it would be a tragedy for anything less. Phenomenal job to the production of THEY CALL HIM MOTHER.

What I didn't like

I wouldn’t change anything, everything from the sound and lighting to the set design was incredible.

My overall impression

Theatre is not dead! From the storyline to the actors who did the roles justice. Everything was well thought out even down to the music numbers. This play was one ecstatic rollercoaster ride I did not want to get off and I’m glad to have been part of an experience that really showed value to what the future could be not only for society but for roles and storytelling in the industry. The show was nothing short of brilliant! Standing ovation to the many hats Tazia wore, I believe it was no easy feat but she pulled it off effortlessly and the hard work shows throughout the performance. I look forward to her future works and what else she has to bring to society.
