The story is engaging because the main character’s struggle with change is so easy to identify with, and compellingly depicted. Donohue-Enriquez populates her world with other textured, fully embodied characters as well. The gentle interplay with the audience makes the character, as well as the whole piece, all the more charming.
What I didn't like
Personally, I would like for this to not be a part of the website.
My overall impression
Queen of Fishtown is a delightful mix of comedy and heart, and had me quite literally laughing one minute and wiping tears the next. Writer/performer Katierose Donohue Enriquez brings considerable talent to the stage and deftly guides the audience through the compelling, original story of an oft forgotten hero: the working class woman.
