What I liked

The set was simple, but effective in transporting us between the various places you’d find at a summer camp. A dock, a classroom, and a cabin. The lighting and sound did a great job in helping establish these locations, doing the work the minimalist set couldn’t.
The lighting effects perfectly set the mood for the various locations. I particularly adored how minimalistic the lighting was in the intimate scenes.
The acting was superb. The cast is full of young actors who I adore and respect. They all had moments to really show their training and their passion for the craft.
The director has done a great job with what I believe is his first production, and I look forward to other projects he puts on.

In a word, BIG Fan!!!

What I didn't like

The only let down I found myself experiencing were moments where actors upstage were having dialogue but were blocked by actors downstage, so I couldn’t see them. Maybe it was just my seat, I don’t know.

My overall impression

Ascension Day was a very interesting peice about young people and the relationships they form with each other at a youth christian summer camp.
This piece made me experience a number of feelings. Love. Sadness. Hope. Despair. Nostalgia for the summer camp I never went to.
