What I liked
I loved Marylee’s genuine storytelling and Jessica Lynn Johnson’s staging! I loved the use of the rolling chair, the typewriter and how the show kept always bringing us back to center-very clear where our focus is supposed to be.

My overall impression
I’ve seen a lot of solo shows that often feel self indulgent….Schmaltzy is the exact opposite! One of the most solo performances-grounded, down to earth, playful, and most importantly, very vulnerable. I found this show to be extremely relatable and some of the most genuine tears I have wept in a theatre in a while.
