Lots of it was funny. Love the multimedia approach, the intimacy and wall-crossings of performer and audience. Love Larry’s vulnerability, especially with matters of family and the seemingly endless seeking for “enlightenment” — which can become a prison of its own. The magic stuff was pretty cool as well. I also appreciated that he didn’t shy away from the details of his illness. The chronic voices of doubt and judgment were also illuminated very well.
What I didn't like
A bit more volume now and then, though this could be my aging ears!
My overall impression
I left the theater very moved by the piece, especially the well-earned wisdom at the end. It’s really simple: forgive, have compassion…everyone is struggling with their own sense of guilt and even self-hatred. Be gentle and kind to yourself.
