The right actress, challenged to carry a lengthy and loquacious yarn and mostly succeeding!
What I didn't like
Having a printed program would make it much easier to remember the name of the actress, the writer and the director, and give them a chance to display their credits, too! BD’s diction failed her occasionally over the course of a 50-minute non-stop soliloquy.
My overall impression
The 95% femme audience loudly liked Darbianna Dinsmore impersonating myriad characters major and minor, male and female, in her exactly 50-minute period solo yarn. Me too! She did OK, aided by period photo projections and frequent gulps of water and the story was a treat, about a Georgian country mouse and her rise and fall and rise again over the course of a single week more than two centuries ago! Not the “Jane Austen plays The 39 Steps” that I expected from the promotion, but an engaging trek to a little-probed historical period.
