Kirsten had us laughing, crying, angry at blatant injustice, and even singing and dancing. Kirsten tells the story of America and racism, a story filled with heartache and devastation, with vulnerability. Never abandoning her audience, at the end of the show, Kirsten masterfully gave us hope for a brighter future. And, like a true educator, she left us with fantastic homework to do.
What I didn't like
I implore you to go see this beautiful piece of theater.
My overall impression
Kirsten Caplan is a dynamic storyteller. In 90 minutes, she takes her audience on a gripping ride through her own exploration of race and racism in the United States and the legacy of white supremacy that permeates the country and our own souls. To use Kirsten’s own words, she her play is a testament to her own hard work and heart work. Kirsten, using her trademark charm and honesty, invites the whole audience into exploring our own work to do.
