I loved the honest and open dialogue about the pros and cons of living within a religious, marital, and societal structure. Felt very authentic.
What I didn't like
I would slow down a couple of the character transitions and really commit to them right out of the gate. It felt like she got more comfortable and committed more to the characters as the show progressed. I’d also look at the portrayal of her husband, Kevin, and try to bring in more of his human side, not quite so flat as a ‘summer sales bro’ unless that’s exactly what he was. In the context of the show he comes off as more of a one-dimensional villain and less of a human making a lot of bad decisions.
My overall impression
Tatum’s story resonated so much with my first marriage. Thanks so much for opening yourself up like that and sharing your heart and soul. I cried and laughed. I also grew up LDS and it really rang true. Such a great show!
