What I liked

I liked the use of two chairs and a bench to illustrate the different areas of Tatum’s story. The images, media, sound effects, and music helped me as an audience member feel immersed in her story. I felt the length of the show was perfect and left me wanting to know more details of her story. I loved the usage of her characters to help tell her story in a creative way.

What I didn't like

I felt that the use/dimensions of the space could have been used more, BUT I believe the spacing used was due to the online viewing parameters. Tatum appeared to be on one line with the chairs and bench, where aesthetically, I’d like to have seen more use of the space dimensionally. But, again, I understand, if this solo show was staged specifically to film, then the set up was limited to the specific space.

My overall impression

Tatum’s personal story is raw, real, and unpredictable. She doesn’t hold anything back in retelling her story. The usage of characters illustrating different parts of her personality help us to understand her thought processes and feelings. Her characterization of other players help give the audience context and bring us along for the journey. As an audience member, I laughed, sighed, and cried along with her as she brought us along the rollercoaster ride of ReedemHer. Tatum is a remarkable and down-to-earth actress who teaches us compassion, understanding, and empathy, and leaves us wanting more of her story!!!
