What I liked

The performances across the board were all stellar, but I found myself particularly drawn to Dana Deruyck’s Linda and Lucas Alifano’s Odell, who managed to seem both preternaturally wise and utterly bonkers at times. Also, it’s a cookout and it includes food, so bring your appetite!

What I didn't like

We learned the show has three possible endings, but the ending you get is chosen pretty much at random. It would be nice if the audience could play more of a role in determining it, through their actions, choices and responses to various characters and scenarios.

My overall impression

An absolute blast that reminds us of how much the simple act of connecting with friends and neighbors can do for us, Welcome to the Neighborhood was one of the highlights of this year’s Fringe festival for me. The story may be simple, but that’s not the point. The show celebrates us and all our eccentricities and makes a case for acceptance and togetherness. Do yourself a favor and check it out! It’ll make you laugh, keep you on your toes and may just get you to appreciate your (probably much less dramatic) neighbors a little bit more.
