What I liked
The pacing of the story was great. It was extremely well written – I loved all of Kira’s stories and characters and different sides of her and her family that she showed. Kira is a phenomenal storyteller and actress and I was constantly impressed with how seamlessly she shifted between characters and displayed emotions so readily and earnestly.
What I didn't like
I was slightly confused by who the uncle character when he was first introduced. Saying “It’s Uncle XX” or addressing Kira as “my niece” during his entrance could potentially signal to the audience who he is right away (otherwise, it made sense once we saw the video). Besides that small detail, it was a phenomenal debut show!
My overall impression
Such a gripping and moving story filled with moments of grief, joy, and comfort. An honest and vulnerable look into the life of a mixed black and Latina woman who had the courage to confront and heal her racial traumas and come out a stronger and more self-loving person!
