I really enjoyed her methodology of story telling. She designed her show to feel like a chaptered saga with each new era in her life being labeled and projected in transitions, fitted with some black outs. Normally I do not like this style, but Kira makes it work for her and it was the thing that kept me engaged as we watched her home videos with her representing each era in her life.
What I didn't like
Kira is clearly a wonderful story teller who does not need anymore than herself to Spurr her in her performance, but I think adding elements of sound would help build the world. Though it is not needed.
My overall impression
This show is great, it is clean and tight.
I found myself laughing and sitting on the edge of my seat as Kira, walked us through the life of a mixed person, and all the pride and shame that come with it. Kira’s skill is on full display as she seamlessly transitions between characters. What’s most impressive is her ability to switch between to characters and with them their emotions, back and forth, without missing a beat.
