What I liked
I love how comfortable M.J. felt in the space and how intimate the show was, with M.J. sharing different parts of her home with us. It felt relaxed and engaging, like your best friend or older sister sitting you down and sharing stories from her life. I appreciated the flow of the stories, and how she didn’t shy away from heavy topics yet also found a way to bring humor and joy into every moment.
What I didn't like
I loved the pre-show, however M.J.’s voice is so calm and soothing that it made me feel almost a bit too relaxed before the show. Perhaps making it a little more upbeat would help get us in the right mood for the show!
My overall impression
My immediate thought from the start of the show was, “M.J. has the cutest personality!!!!” Her voice and perspective really shine through in this one woman show and her stories are heartfelt, vulnerable, and full of light. It was a brilliant performance that weaved together tales from her life that molded her into the person she is today.
