Disrobed - The Virtual Event

I stumbled across this when looking for virtual theatre to watch when England went into it's third lockdown, not knowing anything about the play previously I thought I'd give it a go as it looked good and so glad I did, thought it was really well thought out for how the world is at the moment and the cast worked so well together even though they had never meet in person. Hopefully if there is a part 2 or this production goes to the stage it will be recorded and there will be a virtual showing for all the overseas fans this showing has now attracted. ... full review

Loved the show, great script, great acting. It was very funny but also very emotional at times. The way the nudity was handled was spot on, I'm not sure if all the cast were naturists (judging only by a few tan lines) if they weren't - then a special well done to them for carrying the nudity off effortlessly and naturally. We were very entertained by Disrobed. We were laughing a majority of the time. The idea to film a film via Zoom was amazing! We loved how the writer and actors captured that moment of meeting the future in-laws. Great movie!... full review

Incredibly cringey and not in a fun way. From emotional manipulation to body shaming this was NOT how you made a show about meeting your fiance's naturist family. This came off as someone who's only heard of "nudists" writing a play about it. Everything about the event description implied it's a live play over zoom. But it was a pre-recorded "zoom" complete with editing live streamed over vimeo. Incredibly disappointing and not worth the money.... full review

DISROBED had lots of problems as far as our goal of acceptance from the general public. I didn’t really know what to expect as I am not familiar with the original story. I had heard it was funny and a parody of how any true naturist would be. However, it was presented as if pressuring a guy in too much of an extreme manner; into a septic shock of our culture and then bullying him in a far too demeaning way after they succeeded. ... full review
