This is the kind of show that you leave wishing you had seen with everybody you care about so that you could've experienced something this raw, truthful and magical together! My friends who joined me were new to clown-style theatre and a bit apprehensive about it. It was so wonderful to see them beaming afterwards and thanking me profusely for sharing this with them. This show is one that inspires and percolates with it's own life and energy that you can't help but get completely swept away by it. Your never allowed to be merely a spectator and the clowns create a beautifully unique shared experience that you know, as audience member, you were just as active in helping to create. The seven clowns are so endearing and easy to fall in love w... full review

I was amazed at the variety of ways that this show could make me laugh, leave me in wonderment, and touch my heart. I couldn't help but fall in love with all of the clowns. That Beautiful Laugh took the audience on a beautiful adventure and I got to experience things in this show that I've never experienced in other shows. It was a very unique night for me and I will always appreciate everyone involved in this production for giving me that experience. ... full review

Yet another incredibly polished, delightfully fun performance by the 4 Clowns troupe. It was a joy to see such talented performers manipulate their bodies and voices and genuinely have fun with each other and the audience. Speaking of which, there were about a dozen kids in the crowd and they had a blast! How great to hear their laughter and excitement! This show strikes a perfect balance between the silly and the profound - I won't give any spoilers, but things get real and the clowns ably take us through a wide range of emotions. Perhaps my favorite element of this particular 4 Clowns show is its underlying sweetness; my favorite shows are ones that manage to be insightful, funny, and uplifting and this certainly fits the bill. Kudos to T... full review

What I am so consistently impressed by when it comes to Four Clowns is the immense physical commitment of each and every member of the troupe onstage. Each clown is so unique and their character choices are crystal clear and delightful. This show continues that company tradition beautifully. For this particular production, I really enjoyed watching the troupe take on a more family friendly theme and extra exciting theatrical elements (several wonderful shadow puppet sequences in particular). Can't wait for more in the future!... full review

If you ever see a show that says "Four Clowns" in the title, run to see it! "That Beautiful Laugh" is no exception. They have taken the art of clowning and enmeshed it with characters and story lines delightfully funny as well as poignant. From the performances to the writing and direction, there is nothing to not get excited about! Truly brilliant. Go!! You will thank me for telling you to.... full review

These are superior performers to the one. I loved the back story, but I also loved the detours. The whole short attention span approach to the show made it perfect for clowns and people who love clowns. Although all the clowns were phenomenal, I couldn't help but favor Precious. His abilities are endless and he has some subtlety that you don't always see in clowns. The stage entrance by the troupe was hilarious. The best part of the whole was having the clowns enter the audience and echo the audience. Brilliant!... full review

I must start this review by stating that I am Jeremy Aluma's lover. That being said, this show is spectacular, ground-breaking, and moving. The clowns dazzled me, entertained me, and made my cheeks ache with laughter. You don't need to be a fan of clowns to enjoy this show. You may even be a little skeptical that clowns can make you smile, let alone warm your heart. (Believe me, I get that.) This show isn't about clowns at all, so set that apprehension aside. It's about the human spirit. It's about love, ego, compassion, friendship, adventure, surprise. It's about life. It's our lives, our dreams, and our fears reflected back to us. If That Beautiful Laugh is not already on your agenda for this week, I implore you ... full review

Four Clowns: That Beautiful Laugh – theater review for Hollywood Fringe Fest - HFF 2012 Review by Pauline Adamek. ***This review first appeared on www.ArtsBeatLA.com *** At last Saturday night’s 10pm Fringe performance of "Four Clowns: That Beautiful Laugh," at Open Fist Theater in Hollywood, I found myself sitting in a large audience of about 200 people all set for a hilarious good time. To the extent that they laughed uproariously at Artistic Director Jeremy Aluma’s not-at-all-amusing introduction that explained that this show was the Four Clown company’s first foray into children’s theater. Even Aluma seemed surprised, commenting, “Wow, you guys will laugh at anything!” And laugh at anything this crowd did. "Four Clowns: Th... full review

I missed 4 Clowns last year at the fringe and have been excitedly waiting for this year so that I could see them. They did not disappoint. Beautiful Laugh is filled with a delightful element of childhood emotions. Simple, yet complex, it was enchanting to watch the story unfold over the course of the hour. You can't help but laugh, cry and laugh again throughout the performance. ... full review

Great concept, brilliantly executed. That Beautiful Laugh was so much fun to watch, and I laughed so much I got teary eyed. All the clowns were so endearing, and I actually went through every emotion with them. This show had just the right amount of audience participation. I highly recommend this show as it is not one you would want to miss. And thank you Four Clowns for making my one "Moms" night out totally worth it!!! ... full review
