About the Project

Ni Una Mas is a play that was created back in the summer of 2008 while doing a theatre internship. From there I expanded the play more with my fellow students at UCSB during my last year. Since I have graduated it was performed at a festival that was held during women month in March 2010 by Casa 0101 (founder Josefina Lopez)and had a wonderful response.

Ni Una Mas is a play about the unsolved murders that have been occuring in Cuidad Juarez, Mexico. I first learned about this issue back in 2005 when Josefina Lopez had a screen reading of a possible movie in the works. From that point, I knew I wanted to find out more about this “femicide” as people called it. This play is told through monologues… the audiences gets to personally know how some of these girls were killed unjustly.
Both women and men are these young girls telling us a little about their own lives before they were brutally killed and have yet to be found.
