Alma’s characters are on point. I loved each one. She moves on stage with such strength and grace, well balanced and commanding of attention.
What I didn't like
I honestly can’t think of anything. If anything, I would just like to know more about her life. A lot of focus is on her grandmother and mother. But I wouldn’t say it’s something to be improved. Rather, I loved the storytelling so much, I want to know more about this world.
My overall impression
I am so glad I got to see Strong Like Honey. Alma is an amazing storyteller and solo artist. Her characters are so personal and distinct. I felt transported back in time. And rather than condemn those who were less than perfect in her upbringing, she shows deep compassion. It’s a healing and heartfelt performance.
