What I liked
I loved the various characters which the actress played with vivid distinction in voice and in action. I loved that the props were simple and complimentary and did not overshadow the performance. I especially loved the sound cues interwoven in the piece in the best possible places. I could identify that the actor put in immense work and poured love in the details.
What I didn't like
The artist could balance out the piece with more detail about her what her life and triumphs look like now. I ’d love to know more about how the artist is a force to reckon with and how she currently impacts her community.
My overall impression
My general impression was that Strong Like Honey is a thoughtful and poignant piece; an account of a portion of a dynamic woman’s story. Her historical references were mesmerizing and I was thoroughly entertained. The story flowed from poignant to funny to heart-wrenching and ended on a note of strength.
