What I liked
I’m a writer and from a writers point of view i thought it was very well written. Especially from someone who’s first language isn’t English. I thought it was very poetic and consistent. It didn’t dip anywhere mid centre like some plays do. I thought it was dramatic but without losing any comic appeal and it makes you want to laugh and cry. Barbara obviously imbues her performance with her own spirit and musters up all the heart and soul she has in its delivery.
What I didn't like
I think as a one person show it was great. Bare, but good. If it were to be elaborated into a larger piece, I would say perhaps the setting and extra staging might improve it. But as it stands I thought it was great. This show definitely would get my vote and I’ve seen many. It’s one of the best. She’s a fine actor and a natural. It almost doesn’t feel like she’s acting at all, and only the best actors make you feel that way in my humble opinion.
My overall impression
The show was intense and grabbed my attention from beginning to end. Not many performances take you on a whirlwind of emotions but Barbara’s performance did just that.
