What I liked
Without a doubt Barbara’s performance was the highlight of the show. Her explosive cadence made all the punches land, and the subtle yet poignant use of the props and the space gave the ‘Kansas Room’ a sense of broadness that is almost unbelievable.
What I didn't like
I would say the volumen of the sounds entries and exits could be checked so it can flow better into Barbara’s narrative but other than that the evening was fantastic!
My overall impression
Barbara Saba’s one woman show was, in many ways, an intimate experience that challenged me to reflect upon such themes and concepts like: Family, time, grudges and the ‘American Dream’.
Her performance was at times witty and fast paced, and then in a split second turned into a fine threading of complex emotions and back again.
This play lands close to home in a time where most of us are still away from our families, having enough time to think about the past and want to make amends for all the bad things that happened and were never spoken of ever again.
