About the Project

Alice and Arden are estranged sisters brought together by family tragedy: their mother attempted to kill their father by running him over with her car— then jumped off a bridge to her death. They each have very different memories of their mother. Alice, the elder daughter, grew into an alcoholic and addict. The last time she saw her mother, Alice and her father told her that they were cutting down and selling the forest surrounding the family house, her mother’s most beloved possession. Arden was always their mother’s favorite and remembers her as a broken, but beautiful, person. They are compelled by their mother’s will to read her suicide notes or forfeit their inheritance. As they read the letters and explore the family home, they both begin to understand the extent of their family trauma.
