Addiction is the symptom of an open, ugly wound. It’s like a hat we wear to cover-up a bad hair day or wearing a scarf to cover up a hickey. Everything can be an addiction. That coffee you drink every morning at 8 am, rain or shine is an addiction. Buying six pair of Fabletics, when you haven’t been to the gym since Obama’s first term, is an addiction. And that’s where our main character trouble lies.

Isis started off with just two products— shampoo, and conditioner. But when Isis started to develop feelings for her best friend and roommate, Lauren, she started to self-medicate with hair products. And it has taken over everything. The bathroom. The living room. It’s an infestation. Finally, Lauren reaches a breaking point and gives Isis an ultimatum: friendship or her addiction. With her friendship on the line, Isis must attend group therapy sessions with other hair addicts and confront their hidden truths.
