I love when shows play light and run deep, allowing the audience to laugh and be entertained while exploring painful or challenging topics. This show absolutely achieved this. I also very much appreciated the strong character work, singing and confident delivery. I was appreciative of Amanda’s willingness to discuss body image issues, alcohol abuse, bullying, sexual assault, and dysfunctional relationships. Yet, she did not leave us hopeless as she recounted her modes of healing trauma. Instead, she honestly owned she is still in process on her journey yet remains optimistic. Very well done indeed.
What I didn't like
I am a big fan of using tech to accentuate a solo show and would have loved to have seen lighting, sound and projection used to enhance an already beautiful show. While having a barebones version of the show is good to have for touring, I would love to see this show taken up a notch technically as accommodations allow.
