Created by Coco McGregor, Katrice in Katswala is hybrid genre combining musical theatre, burlesque, and opera. Katswala is a mythic macabre gothic world. We are guided through this new world by Daddy Long Legs, a top hat wearing half-man half-spider who spins a tale of love and woes and captivates us in his wiley web.
Katrice is Kat who is having awakenings and finds herself longing for a Byrd. Katrice wants to lure a Byrd and learns the art of seduction from the various Burlesque performers and magicians who show her the way. The music of Katswala is part gypsy jazz and part ambient trance pierced through by the operatic spires of Big Baby Byrd’s majestic voice.
