The whole ensemble shines with one exception, who shall be unnamed. If you got nothing nice to say ……….The lead is charming in his own idiosyncratic way, taking a pretty far out premise and giving it reality. The relationship between the ex husband and wife was well played and very funny with a good dose of reality injected in to a Trump supporter, by definition a two dimensional cartoon. The energy was very good most of the time.
What I didn't like
A preview has bumpy spots hard to tell whether they will fix themselves during the run. The philosophy is a bit hard to follow, I think only a dramaturge could make it more digestible for a simple person like myself. It seems worth the effort as it seems a positive glimmer in a dim world.
My overall impression
This little gem had me and the audience laughing out loud for much of the show and that is a tribute to the fine ensemble as well as to the writing. At times the ghost of Kurt Vonnegut came to my mind, he doesn’t appear in the play, but his spirit speaks to the existential kind of amusing musings he did so well. I look forward to this rookie playwrights next venture.
