What I liked
I thought the person who played the best friend (Tito) was honestly the standout in the entire show. He kept up with the jokes and was able to set more somber tones for the more serious parts of the story. I wish I could see him perform again!I also appreciated that the story centered Latinx gay men and their story. It touched on racism, fetishization, and gender expression in a poignant way that was impressive for only 90 minutes. It was light hearted without compromising the seriousness of the issues and conflicts within and between characters.
What I didn't like
I would have liked it to have been more explicit about the overt racism some of the characters were expressing. I thought the comments made by the white friend were jarring but it got lost in the energy of the moment. I wish there was more faction or fleshing out of what he was saying with regards to the fetishization and criminalization of Latino men.
My overall impression
This show was amazing and the 90minutes flew by! The cast did a very good job at capturing the different angles of their characters and appreciated that the majority of the cast were queer men of color. Overall an amazing job!
