Good direction by Jared Boghosian and committed performances from Maddison Bullock, Joel Flynn and Michael Filippone who is amusing as the transgender third wheel.
What I didn't like
The pacing. It felt rushed at times, perhaps because the actors were forced to drive home every point the writer was trying to make. The play needs to breathe a little.
My overall impression
A slick production with solid actors in a play by Academy Award-winning screenwriter, Allan Ball, “Power Lunch” pits man against woman in a fictional relationship where a couple struggle for the upper hand. Mix in a transgender waiter and what you get is 45 minutes of sexual politics and thought-provoking points of view even though the banter is at times too clever for its own good.
