What I liked
Loved the numerous points throughout the show when Gemma and Amrita reminded us ironically not to laugh at death, despite their very hilarious treatment;) Both of them were so natural being natural in the always unnatural proscenium. The improvisation and self-commentary was phenomenal!!
What I didn't like
This seems like the sort of piece that can always keep evolving. I loved the balance of archetypical tropes with numerous post-modern, pop cultural, and 21st century references. Just keep on doing what y’all are doing. It’s brilliant.
My overall impression
Definitely see this show while you still can!! Death too often occupies this sacrosanct, sanitized, distant space. The Living Room brings it close, makes it real, authentic, impactful. Perfectly poised between irreverent satire and honest empathy, with some well-earned slapsilly moments and great self-referential commentary – a brilliant approach to a hard and trying theme that in all truthfulness could serve as a poignant model for other controversial topics.
