The actors were what made this piece really special. The more experienced actors especially used the material to create characters onstage that felt real and intimate. The monologue of the mother talking to her daughter was especially heart-wrenching because the actress never played at or indicated emotion, but simply existed through the turmoil her character was experiencing.
What I didn't like
The writing was full of both triumphant victories for feminism and gut-wrenching realities of life that simply suck. Sometimes however, the nods to feminism were a bit on the nose in the writing and the sad realities often felt a little too drawn out. All and all though, those were the only tweaks that could easily be wrapped up with editing and simple cutting. A brilliant show overall!
My overall impression
An intimate look at what it means to be female-presenting in the workplace. A poignant look at a wide variety of experiences and realities of working while female.
