Overall I enjoyed the narrative of cishet-white-dude-who-thinks-he-can-change-the-world-while-still-being-complicit-in-capitalism-gets-his-ass-handed-to-him-by-the-reality-that-all-of-our-real-life-heroes-are-disappointing-at-best-and-nefarious-at-worst. The actors all seemed to be enjoying themselves and there was a genuine air about them all. In classic superhero movie fashion, there was even an end credits scene. This show is enjoyable and funny, tongue in cheek and self aware. ... full review

"How I Became A Superhero" at the Hollywood Fringe Festival emerges as a standout production that blends humor, heart, and a refreshing twist on the superhero genre. Written by John Patrick Daly, known for his previous Fringe success with "New Kid on the Block," this play captivates with its witty narrative and energetic performances. The story follows Otto Sparks and Reggie Spencer, two online activists thrust into the world of vigilante justice after Otto decides to take action beyond the digital realm. Their journey unfolds with comedic flair and unexpected depth, as they encounter colorful characters and navigate moral dilemmas straight out of comic book lore.... full review

Self-aware and hilarious, with a big heart. Daly is painfully aware of the over-saturation of super hero films, the cliches and tropes, and the classic journey of our hero. He takes this self-awareness and creates an insanely funny send-up of this tired genre.... full review

Love this show! It was designed like a live comic book which made it super original and fun to watch. Really enjoyed how they used the screen so it felt like half movie half play. It was very Marvel-Esque and was cleverly written. ... full review
