The cast was great overall, but Amir Levi and Andrew Villarreal stood out the most for me. I giggled almost every time Andrew said anything, and Edie’s constant messing up of lyrics is such a simple device that works so damn well. The relationship between Edie and Petey was a delight to explore – I frankly could have seen more of it!
What I didn't like
There was a section in the middle where I felt the pace could have been ramped up a bit, or perhaps the stakes could have been higher. Also, if you’re not a musical theatre person, there will be quite a lot that goes over your head. This is not a knock against the show, really, cuz EVERYONE should have more musical theatre knowledge! :)
My overall impression
What a fun, campy delight! Amir Levi turns Edie Stevenson, someone who could easily be a one-note joke, into a fully fleshed out character, and you root for her the entire show! If you’re a musical theatre junkie, you will double over in laughter again and again. The highlight of the show comes at the end – no spoils, but you might wanna bone up on your musical theatre history before attending! Fantastic cast and a wonderful time!
