I have never seen a Fringe play that was this sharp and this polished — let alone on opening night. The script and the performances brought constant laughs — but the humor was born out of the very human insecurities of dating, cleverly focused through the lens of dating apps. The entire audience was all in from the start. A really impressive production, especially given the nature of the Fringe festival. I’ve seen shows at the Geffen I didn’t think were this complete.
What I didn't like
Minor notes on scattered bits of timing and tech cues. A few potential laughs got stepped on because the delivery didn’t sell them or the timing caused another line to step on the laugh before it could develop. I suspect that will improve with another run-through or two.
My overall impression
A hilarious and moving exploration of men living in the dating-app world.
