The structure of setting each act in a different year – 1998, 2004, and 2014 – provided a really smart way of showing change not just within the store but with each character.
What I didn't like
Some of the dialogue was a bit on the nose.
My overall impression
What a heartfelt and humorous look at a cultural touchstone that will only exist in our memories. For someone who religiously visited and ultimately worked at (for several years) Blockbuster and for anyone who appreciates the ways in which movies shape ourselves, our identities and our values, our friendships and relationships, this was a truly satisfying piece of theatre.
