Yvette Saunders. She’s charming, talented, immensely likeable, versatile, has stage presence and depth.
What I didn't like
This show needs to be completely restructured. If it wasn’t for the charm and talent of the actress, the audience would completely check out.
You either need to cast two people, or simplify the costume changes or find a way to do them onstage. We all know it’s the same person. You can’t leave people sitting in the dark watching random Cotton Club clips while the actor changes backstage. It absolutely doesn’t work.
Both characters are interesting and need better development. More time getting to know them, less time waiting for an actor to change clothes.
And the recordings which I think are designed to sound “old-timey” just sound poorly recorded.
It’s a great idea, and I’d like to see it workshopped w/a better technical team and stronger directorial vision.
My overall impression
Great subject matter, very talented actress, needs a lot of work before it can be a really good show.
