What I liked

I liked the story in general, and how what was hidden at first was revealed later in the flawed, lead character. Each character’s flawed nature was both intense and humorous at times, and effectively took us on a journey of “HaHaHa”, “Wow”, and “No Way!”

What I didn't like

The only improvement I feel could be made is in the pace of the dialogue at times, which would keep intact the important moments that call for those necessary beats to convey an emotion, spur a laugh or make a point. ‘Siren Call’ has plenty of these great moments, but were occasionally softened by the sometimes too frequent silences between the characters. With this kind of talent on the stage, I would have loved to see the dialogue be more ‘messy’, sometimes overlapping with an organic flow of sorts, in just a few more places.

My overall impression

I definitely was impressed by the show overall, and by the impressive and dynamic performance of each of the three characters. Lead, Jola Cora and Annalee Scott were riveting in their portrayals of what I’d call an eery ‘kindred persona’ between the two, and Paul Louis Harrell never disappoints, bringing his usual sledgehammer performance to the stage for the first time. I think the greatest challenge for a 30-minute show is to tell a good story and show the journey of each character. ‘Siren Call’ accomplishes that…. and in a surprisingly effective and enjoyable way.
