What I liked

I think I said it all in my overall impression. Even if there is an occasional storyteller that doesn’t quite land the plane, the hosts do an excellent job finding fun, comic people, and they make everyone feel so welcome. I could go to this show again and again, because it’s always different.

What I didn't like

nothing comes to mind.

My overall impression

This is such a fabulous format! Everybody’s dating disasters are so different (but almost all involve hope… and then disappointment, except for a rare and shocking happy ending!), and if one disaster isn’t relatable to you, it’s still funny, you’ve discovered a new talent, and there’s another one in a few minutes. While the storytellers are relaying their tales, Jimmy is sitting in the corner crafting a brand-new song about their hellish date, which he plays immediately when the story is over with the dater sitting beside him. It’s a fun device that consolidates what’s so weird and disastrous about each experience and breaks up the story-after-story rhythm, cleansing the palate between each catastrophe.
