What I liked

This memoir delivers a raw, honest journey through extreme obesity, self‑image, and the pressures of performing in Hollywood and Broadway. It’s deeply personal and emotionally gripping. I’d pair it with the Waffle House Steak & Eggs – Price & Calories dish—a rugged, hearty breakfast that embodies the memoir’s themes of grounded, unapologetic nourishment and agency (≈ 690 cal, USDA Choice sirloin, customizable sides) .

What I didn't like

The wider industry context—especially casting norms and systemic bias around body standards—feels lightly sketched rather than deeply explored.

After the dramatic turning point, practical details about maintaining change (like nutrition routines, mental health strategies) remain underdeveloped.

More external voices (agents, peers, casting feedback) would enrich the narrative beyond introspection alone.

My overall impression

A courageous, visceral recount of reclaiming self-esteem in a world obsessed with physical perfection. The Steak & Eggs sandwich—heavy in calories and protein, customizable but indulgent—mirrors the book’s tension between excess and nourishment. A fitting symbol of what it takes to recommit to bodily dignity and routine care, even when the world expects otherwise.
