What I liked

This show was light-hearted, fun, and fast-paced. There wasn’t a moment where I was bored or ready to leave. My personal favorite was the second one at the coffee shop. It was painful watching Chris’s character put his foot in his mouth, but also a great lesson for the rest of us white folks in the audience of how we often like to think we aren’t racist because we aren’t doing openly racist things BUT how micro-aggressions are real and are equally as racist. I appreciated the lesson about (spoiler alert) the Black Panther poster and the history of watermelon as a way of humiliating and undermining Black folks. That was a history lesson I probably never would have learned if it weren’t for this show.

What I didn't like

I was hoping the woman in the first sketch could’ve stood up for herself. Granted, it’s certainly more realistic that she didn’t (because IRL it’s often hard to stick up for yourself when something like that happens) but I was secretly hoping for a cathartic moment where she takes back her power.

My overall impression

The chemistry between the actors was wonderful to watch. In fact, half of the fun was just watching them be playful together. I felt like I was watching a bunch of grown-up kids (wait…isn’t this what adults are?) having a blast together on-stage.
This show may seem like a light-hearted comedy and it most definitely is, however, it is also full of lessons on how covert racism is inherent in so many of us (especially white folks). As a white person myself, I definitely learned how easy it is to say something completely and utterly stupid without even realizing it BUT how that doesn’t excuse me from saying it.
