What I liked

The sketches tackle sensitive topics of our modern world that we often back away from discussing. Some subjects were more obvious like the, “But I’m not a racist” racism, homoerotic homophobia, and clueless aging white men longing for the good old days, while others take on the subtle concepts of emotional labor, and middle age male suicide.

These issues are surrounded by emotional drama, but the range of humor in the excellent writing helps ease the tension and anxiety.

The terrific individual and ensemble performances enhance the writing. The entire cast did a super job with the comedy, invested and earnest, a testament to their skill and professionalism.

Great use of the stage space, especially in Suicide Pact, and some audience interaction (opening day performance).

What I didn't like

We missed a couple of the jokes because the audience was laughing so much – not a bad thing at all.

My overall impression

Well written, strong performances, tight direction, intelligent and very funny. Straight White Men #Trying to Woke will make you laugh more than once, and think twice. A really fun way to spend 50 minutes!
